The Buddhist Way Of Life 01 series written by Mrs. N.G.W.I. Jinasena is a timely contribution to an urgently felt need in the field of religious and value education. Today more than ever before, children are exposed to influences that can easily lead them astray. We see a rapid change in the education scene too, in that a fair percentage of children attend schools where the medium of instruction is English, even in the primary section.

The topics vary from incidents from the Buddha’s life, Jataka Stories. Dhamma School, King Agbo, Ruwanwelisaya, Sri Päda and a few selected gäthäs. Mrs. Jinasena efforlessly conveys to children, certain good habits and character traits a Buddhist child should learn to cultivate. I wish to express my appreciation for the emphasis on Buddhist way of life rather than teaching religion as yet another subject. Thus this service provides evidence to teachers too, as to the aims and objectives of teaching.
